Paul Clary is both winemaker and vineyard manager at the award winning Clary Ranch Winery. He grew up learning farming on his family's walnut orchard in the Sierra Foothills. After graduating from UC Davis and pursuing other interests, Paul switched his focus to grapes and began an intensive study of viticulture & winemaking which culminated in the purchase of a 260-acre property west of Petaluma in 1998. He planted 15 acres of vines, 12 acres of Pinot and 3 acres of Syrah and began taking more winemaking classes. In the initial years of harvest, Paul sold all of his grapes while continuing to hone his winemaking skills. The 2004 vintage represents Paul's debut as a commercial winemaker.
Paul lives at Clary Ranch with his four kids, Patrick, Liana, Christopher and Olivia, along with the family dog and cat, Greta and Tabitha.
